We were lucky enough to find a pre-World War II Japanese brewery, or sake producing site on Pohnpei Island, Micronesia. The site is heavily overgrown with jungle, but the grinding table is still visible, where the grain was ground before cooking, as well as the water tank, the boiler, the cooking tank and other machinery.
Near these ruins, we found a large cache of Japanese beer and wine bottles buried in a taro swamp as well as various other bottles and jars and artifacts. And near the ruins of the commander's house/office, we are finding various other artifacts.
We thought you might be interested in seeing some pictures of the site. Be patient, it takes the images a while to load.
