The Straying Husband

When Nopuko was still living on Guam, she was approached one day by the priest of her church.  The priest told her that one of his old friends, a woman who had grown up in his church before he transferred to the church Nopuko attended, was having problems with her marriage.  He asked Nopuko to meet with the woman and see if she could help her.

Nopuko agreed to see the lady, and a few days later the priest brought her to Nopuko's house.  The lady's problem was her husband - he had been seeing another woman for over eleven years and had moved out of his house and moved in with the girlfriend a few years ago.  That was bad enough.  But to make matters worse, the wife and her husband were equal business partners on some rental property. Although they shared the profits from the property equally, the husband spent all his share on his girlfriend.

Nopuko listened to the woman's story and told her to come back the next day.  After the lady left, Nopuko went to a part of the island where she knew the necessary herbs grew, and gathered the ones she needed.

She went back home and mixed the herbs in the manner necessary to cast a love spell over her client's husband.  The next day, the woman returned to Nopuko's house.

Nopuko gave the woman the potion she had mixed and instructed her to wipe  it on her husband the next time she saw him -- wipe it all over the man's body through his clothes, and to be especially sure to wipe some of the potion on his face. Nopuko told her to let her know when she expected her husband to come by the house and she would be there with the wife.  The woman said she expected him to come by the house that day to pick up his share of the month's profits.

Later that day, the husband came to the house.  As soon as he got out of his car, the wife ran to him and began wiping the potion all over him, taking care to wipe a large portion on his face.

As soon as he recovered from the shock of his wife wiping something wet all over him, he walked with her into the house and sked for a glass of water.  After drinking the water, he told her he was hungry and she fixed him some food.  After eating, he told his wife he was tired and asked her if it would be OK if he took a nap on the couch.  And she asked him why he wanted to sleep on the couch, why didn't he go into the bedroom and lay on their bed, which she had been keeping for him.

The man stayed and never went back to the girldfriend. Nopuko told the lady to keep putting the potion on her husband every day until she was certain her husband was going to stay with her for good. And she did.  The girlfriend kept coming after the guy, but he ignored her and never left his wife again.
